Livelihoods & Poverty Alleviation

Supporting income-generating activities, vocational training, micro-enterprise development, and poverty reduction initiatives for disadvantaged groups.

Development Programme Initiative (DPI) lifts up disadvantaged groups across Bangladesh, reaching places like Jhenaidah, Chapai Nawabganj, Pabna, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Bogura, Sirajganj, Netrokona, Pirojpur, Rangpur, and Natore with programs that promotes self-reliance and economic hope. Every year, DPI steps in to support the ultra-poor, marginalized folks, and those struggling below the poverty line. It starts by listening to their stories, learning about their dreams and plans for a better life, and focusing on ways to build steady income and economic strength. DPI takes the time to understand what each person needs, laying a solid groundwork for help that fits just right.

Process for Income Generating Activities Scheme

  • Collecting Case Stories: DPI begins by gathering personal stories from cases, capturing their visions and plans for development. This step emphasizes sustainable income generation and economic mobilization, giving everyone a chance to share their hopes.
  • Gathering Needs and Expectations: The organization listens closely to understand each person’s specific needs and expectations, creating a tailored plan that reflects their unique situation and goals.
  • Executive Team Evaluation: The executive team reviews all submissions carefully, assessing the feasibility and potential impact of each plan to ensure the best use of resources.
  • On-Site Verification: Inspection teams visit the regions to check the details on the ground, verifying information and ensuring the plans are practical and ready to move forward.
  • Incorporation into the Scheme: Once approved, selected individuals or families are welcomed into the Income Generating Activities Scheme, receiving resources to start or grow ventures such as cow farming, poultry businesses, goat rearing, sewing machine projects, vegetable trading, grocery shops, land cultivation, or auto van operations.

DPI celebrates notable successes from these efforts. In Jhenaidah, a beneficiary transformed an initial cow farming investment into a thriving herd, selling goats for profit to purchase a high-value Australian breed now worth over 65000 BDT. In Pabna, a woman expanded her sewing business, achieving financial independence, while in Sirajganj, a poultry farmer reported daily profits supporting their household. These achievements highlight the program’s impact. Complementing these efforts, DPI provides vocational training and micro-enterprise development to build skills and entrepreneurial capabilities. Through poverty reduction initiatives, the organization mobilizes communities toward long-term economic stability, ensuring inclusive growth and resilience for vulnerable populations across regions.
